PHEW, WE DID IT!

We are really nearly there! What a difference with painted walls. The studio looks fantastic! The walls are getting their final coat and today the mirrored wall got measured up. The perimeter lighting has been installed so there are no lights in the ceiling! The burgundy wall through reception has been painted and the shower areas and W.C.’s are being tiled.
Only 3 ½ weeks to go and we are still set for the opening on Sunday 6th July.

I have just returned from my weekly site meeting and things are moving fast! The plumbing works are in position, plastering in the changing rooms is complete. The floors have been screeded in the reception areas and the boys are working on the changing rooms floors at the moment. The door frames are in position, the studio plasterboard ceiling is nearly complete. So shortly the painting and tiling will begin.
It really is a beautiful space and I can already picture classes taking place. I am hoping that the studio will open to the public on Sunday July 6th but I am waiting for confirmation from my builder this week and I will let you know as soon as he confirms.

The works are progressing well and we are still working to schedule. The heater is now in position, first fix electrics are complete and the insulation on the studio walls is complete.
The curved wall through the reception area is really taking shape. The pipes to the showers need to be rearranged as they have been placed too close together but I am expecting site problems along the way...it takes me back to my days as an architect!

Just had site meeting no.2 and works are progressing really well thanks to Jo my builder! I spent the whole site meeting shivering with cold...and dreaming about the hot classes to come!
The insulation is going up around the studio walls, the changing room and reception walls are being plastered and all the hot water pipes are being put in place. The electricians have started first fix wiring. The teacher schedule is coming together nicely and yes, Sanjai will be teaching at Balham too!

Yesterday, I attended the first team site meeting with Contractor, Architect, Electrical Engineer and Mechanical Engineer. Works are progressing well. The partitions are going into place. The duct work arrived on site for the heater system. I brought my daughters, Yasmin and Skye to have a look at the new studio too!
